A Puerto Vallarta Beach Resort Near the Center: Villa Premiere
There's no shortage of Puerto Vallarta luxury resorts and hotels to consider, whether you want a historic boutique hotel downtown or one that's perched over a perfect stretch of white sand once you go north or south far enough. Unlike nearly all the other beach resorts, however, Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel is on the water, but is walking distance to the center. Puerto Vallarta proper is a compact zone of restaurants, shops, and bars separated from the Pacific by a long malecon dotted with sculptures from some of Mexico's best-known artists. It's a fun place to walk around and get a real feel for coastal Mexico, a city meant for strolling. If you want to do that for more than an hour or two on your resort's "city excursion," however, the best upscale resort to reserve is Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel and Romantic Getaway. Yes, that's the full name of the place and they live up to the billing with an adults-only policy, honeymoon suites, and a colorful romantic sunset each night that you can watch unfold from your balcony. The staff is happy to set up a meal for two in the perfect spot, including this one with water on three sides: I was leery about adding this property before staying at it on this recent trip because I wasn't very impressed the first time I stayed there more than a decade ago. The furniture seemed dated, there were those annoying no-theft hangers in the closet, and the food was just so-so. A lot has changed since then, I learned immediately, and both the food and service are on par with many of the other high-end resorts in this region. With a price tag that's easier to digest as well. Villa Premiere does have a few built-in handicaps, like a limited footprint and rooms sizes designed before such large ones as you see in new builds now were common. They've countered every handicap in every way possible, however, making the standard rooms bright, airy, and loaded with amenities. Plus that view at the top makes up for a lot. Upgrade to a larger one if this matters to you and you'll get a bigger balcony with a whirlpool also--well worth it. The two swimming pools here are very attractive: one rectangular one surrounded by lounge chairs and day beds, the other a constant whirlpool with a swim-up bar. There are more lounge chairs and daybeds down on the beach and energetic, bilingual waiters are continually making the rounds for drinks and food. The food is a real highlight here, worth the modest all-inclusive add-on even if you're going to be out for one meal a day. The main La Ceiba restaurant is on two levels, both with an ocean view, attractive by day and looking totally different at night when you can see the lights of the city and up to the marina zone. The other dinner-only restaurant is air-conditioned behind a wall of glass and another indoor one should open back up once safety restrictions allow. There's clearly a talented chef in the kitchen now as the meals are consistently good and even the most humble ones are dressed up in an attractive presentation. Take a tour here to see what Villa Premiere is like: by the pool, in the restaurant, in the room, and even at the gym. (There's also a full spa on site and you get a quick chair massage gratis when you check in.) This is not the most high-end, exclusive property in the region--head up to Punta Mita for that--but it attracts a wider range of visitors than most and is a lively place to stay that's near the city action. Check out that video to get a feel for what it's like to stay in this downtown beach resort. Then see our detailed review of Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Review: Aeonic Suites & Spa Mykonos (Greece)
Wednesday newsletters always feature a hotel or flight review. Last month, I enjoyed a terrific holiday on the Greek islands of Santorini, Mykonos, and Ios (Cyclades). You can read my trip reports here:
Today: Review of Aeonic Suites & Spa Mykonos (Greece)
Nestled in the western part of the island of Mykonos, in the cove of Korfos, Aeonic Suites & Spa is Mykonos’ newest 5-star boutique hotel. With its finely crafted architecture, alluring interior design, and minimalist elegance, it’s also one of the island’s most stylish and timeless retreats. Each one of the 34 rooms enjoys its own outdoor space either with either a private pool or a Jacuzzi depending on the room category. Facilities include a large infinity pool overlooking Ornos Bay, an elegant rooftop spa, and one of Mykonos’ best fine dining venues. Aeonic means lasting for an eon or for a lifetime, but what it means to the hotel is “that you can look forward to bliss without any hassle or fuss within the premises of a luxury boutique hotel.” Aeonic Suites & Spa features in my top 10 list of the best hotels in Mykonos. Have you ever stayed at Aeonic Suites & Spa? If so, what was your experience? Leave a comment. In this review (more info and photos below my YouTube video):
PROS & THINGS I LIKE
CONS & THINGS TO KNOW
MY VERDICT
TIPS FOR FUTURE GUESTS & SAVE MONEY
BEST TIME TO VISITThe best time to visit Mykonos are the autumn months of September and October: the weather is still great, the tourist crowds have left, the sea temperature is at its warmest, and the hotel rates are within reasonable range. The spring months of April and May, before the summer rush comes, are also a great time to visit, although the sea is cold and you may encounter some cloudy days. Mykonos is a very popular holiday destination for Europeans in June, July and August: expect hordes of tourists, nonstop parties and soaring hotel rates at this time of year. Summers also see a lot of windy days, with the Meltemi blowing for long periods, especially in the afternoons (sometimes gale force like winds). HOW TO GET THEREAeonic Suites & Spa is a 15 min car ride from the ferry harbour and a 10 min ride from the aiport. How To Go Live On TikTok To Improve Engagement With Your Followers
Have you been using TikTok for business for quite some time? Do you want to level up your brand engagement on TikTok? If yes, then It’s time for you to take center stage with TikTok live videos. According to social media statistics, in 2020, about a quarter of users on TikTok tuned in to join live streams. Now you don’t want to leave them hanging there alone, do you? Going live on TikTok gives creators and brands an excellent opportunity to connect with their audience in real-time. You can do Q&A sessions, share tips & tricks, or show behind-the-scenes to make things more transparent and intimate with your audience – the possibilities are endless. So if you don’t know how to go live on TikTok, then you have come to the right blog to begin your journey. We will also discuss the best tips to make winning TikTok live videos. Let’s roll! Interesting read: Increase Your TikTok Followers With These Simple Tips How many followers do you need to go live on TikTok?Hold your horses right there. We might have a piece of bad news for a few TikTok users all geared up to create their first live video. Unfortunately, the TikTok live video option is not available to everyone. To unlock the capabilities of going live on TikTok, you must have:
Moreover, creators who are 18 years old can receive virtual gifts from people watching them live. Interestingly, these virtual gifts can be later exchanged for real moolah. Ok, now that we have covered the basics, let’s hit the main topic again. How to go live on TikTok: A step-by-step processStep 1: Open the TikTok app on your mobile phone, and tap on the ’+’ symbol present at the bottom of the screen. Step 2: The in-app camera screen will appear on your screen. Here, swipe right to the “LIVE” option from the navigation at the bottom of your screen. Step 3: Next, you will have to pick an image and write a title for your stream. Make sure to choose a title and image that grabs your followers’ attention enough to hop on the live stream. Remember, the title has a 32 character limit, so keep your title clear and concise. Step 4: Now, all that is left is to go live. Get yourself ready and tap “Go Live.” Once you are live, your followers will receive a notification. While streaming live, you can make multiple adjustments in the broadcasting, such as flipping the camera, adding effects, filtering comments. Moreover, you can add up to 20 people to co-host the live session with you. Let’s check out how to do that. How to go live with someone on TikTok?The good thing about TikTok, along with broadcasting solo lives, is that it also lets you invite other people to co-host the space. You can invite up to 20 moderators at once. Now, that’s an exciting feature for a business like you looking to expand its reach. Co-hosting with an account of the same niche allows you to tap into new audiences. So, how to go live with someone on TikTok? The steps are simple.
Also, as a user, you can join someone else’s live broadcasting. To do so, tap on the two-smiley icon near the comment box. It will send a request to join the broadcast. If your request gets accepted, you will connect on the live stream with the host. Your followers will also be notified that you are streaming live. 8 best practices to make your TikTok Live fantastic1. Define the objective for TikTok Live videoEverything we do in life, business, and even in a live session on TikTok has an objective behind it. So what’s your objective? What do you want to share with your audience on the live stream? You must figure out your goal to make the further steps streamlined. It could be anything; you may go live to promote your new feature, drive traffic to your other social media accounts, create engagement and build community. As we said before, the possibilities are endless. Once you are done solving this most crucial question, move to the next step. 2. Choose a topicAfter defining your objective, choose a topic that resonates with your goal and come up with a crisp title for it to grab your audience’s attention. Going live on TikTok shouldn’t be a one-time show. So make sure you jot down a list of topics to keep the streaming flow consistent. Moreover, you can cover a broader topic in 10-15 minutes of multiple live streams across a month or a week and call it a series. For instance, if you are a marketing agency and you aim to engage with budding startups and small businesses, then make a list of pet peeves they deal with. Once you get the problems they face, start going live to discuss those issues at your decided intervals. 3. Plan the structure of your live streamI know you are all pumped to click the live button and start talking to your followers, but it may not go as smoothly as it would go with a structured plan. So before you start streaming live on TikTok, remember always to plan how you will start, end, and do everything in between. Here are few basics to structure your TikTok live straight: Introduce yourself: First things first, begin your TikTok by introducing yourself and what you do to make the interaction more warm and authentic. At first, you will see a stream of hellos and heys. Greet them while biding time for a maximum number of people to join. Reveal the topic: Once the maximum number of people join, reveal what you will talk about in the live stream. Pre-plan the format: With the topic in your mind, decide how you are going to propagate your ideas to the viewers. Is it going to be a how-to stream? Are you going to take them behind-the-scenes? Perhaps a simple Q&A session with your audience? For instance, If your goal is to promote your new beauty product, choose a topic around that and give a live makeup tutorial to your viewers. So think about it. Having a plan will help you stay focused. Live Duration: You should also plan out how long you want to keep the live sessions. It will help you make the sessions brief and on-point. Though TikTok live videos have a limit to run for 60 minutes, I recommend keeping the duration up to 30 minutes. 4. Pick the best time slotThere is no point in going live on TikTok at a time when nobody from the audience is hanging on the platform. You need to plan every TikTok live stream on your personal best time to post on TikTok. Posting at the best times ensures that your live streams get seen by as many people as possible. 5. Promote your live session beforehandAnother thing you can do to direct maximum traffic at your TikTok live video stream is by announcing it beforehand through a TikTok post. This trick will pay nicely when a user sees your posted video during your LIVE and can directly enter your stream via a unique icon that appears in your post. But won’t it be super-hectic to post an announcement, along with planning for a live stream multiple times a month? Yup, it will. But we have one solution. SocialPilot, a TikTok scheduling tool, enables you to create and schedule TikTok posts way ahead of time. With this tool in hand, you can schedule a time and date for multiple posts to go live automatically. Experience it yourself – start your free trial. Interesting read: Ways to Use Facebook Live Video for Your Business 6. Be authenticNo matter how much you plan, in the end, you need to be casual on a TikTok live session. You can never create a script and sputter it throughout the live sessions. TikTok live demands you be as genuine and authentic as possible. So drop that salesman’s voice and start engaging with your viewers at a deeper level. 7. Take care of technicalitiesThere are a few technical aspects that are needed to be taken care of before you hit the live button. Proper lightning: Bad lightning can ruin the viewer’s experience. So make sure that you either sit in a well-lit room or use extra lights to make your stream viewable and engaging. Sound-check: Bad sound is worse than bad lighting. People have joined the live session to listen to what you have to say, not your neighbor’s dogs barking or construction trucks working outside of your house. So before you go live find a quiet place to stream from. Good internet connection: Always test that your internet connection is steady before going live. 8. Conclude with a call-to-actionAt the end of your live stream, don’t forget why you started in the first place. Recall your objective again. And before you bid adieu to your audience, give a CTA that ties back to your goal. Get ready to go live! Tiktok live is an excellent feature for creating a genuine and more profound connection with your audience. It’s buzzing and has excellent power to increase your brand awareness, create leads and conversion opportunities. Now that you know how to go live on TikTok, it is time to start drafting a proper structure for your first live session on TikTok using all the tips we have discussed above. And if you are serious about TikTok and it holds a prominent place in your marketing strategy, then it’s high time to start using SocialPilot to manage your presence on TikTok and other platforms efficiently. More than a buzzword: Lead with social to see customer experience differently
In the last few years, “customer experience” (or CX) has become a buzzword that every business appears to be developing a strategy for, or changing a process to address. How many businesses are factoring social media into this equation? For so many companies, social media teams are still the last to know about high-level strategy changes. But when it comes to understanding your customers, they’re first in line. Before businesses jump to revamp their CX, they should take a step back, think about the most important elements of CX today and how they see it evolving over the next few years. Social media is most likely the answer and should be at the core of those shifts. Otherwise, any changes your business makes may be antiquated in the near term. Because social is the customer experience—today and especially tomorrow. Customers are in control of their experience with your businessAt its core, customer experience is built on the various touchpoints that a customer has with your people, your products and your brand. Historically, businesses have had more control over how that experience happened and (for the most part) it was very linear and predictable. Today, consumers are in control. They choose their own adventure. They select where they want to interact with your brand, research products and make purchases. As a result, your brand, people, products and services need to be available in an omnichannel way. Consumers may dictate their experiences with your brand, but businesses can choose to invest in consistency, efficiency and quality across their physical and digital spaces. Think about the experiences you’d have in a brick-and-mortar retail shop. That business has a certain way they want store associates to present themselves and treat customers. There are intentions behind the way the business merchandises the store and designs its shelves. Businesses need to think about how their products, values, standards and culture show up on social media in the same way. Customer experience starts with social mediaWe all recognize that the pandemic forced businesses to transform. Everyone had to evolve to maintain relationships with customers, market to them and sell products and services in a world where face-to-face interactions were no longer an option. Social became the go-to channel and a catalyst for keeping the customer journey moving. As we emerge from the pandemic, that will remain true. Consumers have spoken and social is the most convenient and engaging place to connect with your brand. That’s why we’re seeing the exponential rise in social customer care and social commerce. We’re no longer limited to discovering and learning about products, we also have the ability to transact, moving through the entire customer journey on a single channel with ease. More consumers on social yields more insights into your current and potential customers, but too many businesses are leaving that data on the table. Businesses have a responsibility to act on that intelligence—show your customers you’re listening, that you’re attuned to their preferences, that you give a damn about giving them the best experiences possible. Customer experience stops being a buzzword only if you do something about it. At a basic human level, it’s encouraging when we feel heard, represented, seen and understood. Customer preferences will continue to change, it’s inevitable. But social data is the fastest, most unfiltered way to track those shifts as they emerge. One Sprout customer, Lodge Cast Iron, used social listening to tap into conversations that potential customers were having about recipes and cooking products. The data revealed they actually had a large vegan contingency who were looking for meatless recipe ideas. The Lodge Cast Iron team took that insight, joined the conversations and tapped into a new market, while also giving the people what they wanted. Social media managers hold the keys to the customer experienceWhen you receive a message on social, you don’t automatically know if it’s a customer lead, a support issue, product feedback or even the start of a crisis. Messages don’t come with a label, nor do they get automatically routed to the appropriate teams like customer support, for example. This is just one of the reasons that our social media marketers play a critical role in CX and customer relationships. They are the ones triaging these interactions, so they need to be tied to all different parts of the organization to ensure that customers’ messages are getting to the right people. We are starting to see a shift where most executives agree that social media will become the primary channel for their company to connect with their existing and prospective customers. Even so, many organizations still put social in a corner. In the latest Sprout Social Index™, we found that 50% of marketers say they maintain only occasional communication and collaboration with other teams. If businesses are committed to using social to improve and inform the customer experience, they need to elevate social to the strategic, customer-facing function it should be. Break social teams out of the silos they’ve long been in. Give them a seat at the table and consistent opportunities to share their unique perspectives. The sooner businesses bring social into cross-team efforts, the better. The best time to plant a tree is todayEven though we’ve seen social evolve rapidly in the last several years, we’re still early on in the adoption curve for businesses. There’s plenty to be learned, but we do know that providing a seamless, positive and complete CX on social gives companies a competitive advantage. The businesses that invest early, harness the mountains of available social data and are committed to adjusting their strategy, are going to be the winners. Because if you don’t show up for your customers on social, another brand will. That’s the nature of the game, but the good news is it’s never too late. The best time to plant a tree is today. So dig in, plant the seeds for a social-first customer experience, nurture it and watch it grow. Download Sprout’s State of Social Media Report for more data and insights your business needs to determine the path forward in this increasingly social consumer environment. Best Gins
There is nothing quite like a cool, crisp G&T to refresh the palate on a warm summer’s day and with the rise of many independent producers, along with the well-established household names the choice of different botanical blends is superb. We’ve done the hard work and found some great new premium pours for you to sample this summer. So, get your mixers at the ready and read on to be ‘gin-spired’ by some of our favourite glorious gins. Eight Lands GinEight Lands Organic Speyside Gin is a fresh, bold, juniper and citrus-led London Dry gin which is complemented by locally foraged cowberries and wood sorrel from the family’s organic estate. Sorrel provides a citrus element, complementing the fresh lime and fresh lemon peel alongside the tart berries that bring a touch of fruity sweetness. The gin includes 11 botanicals including orris root, cardamom and coriander seeds. ORO GinThis award winning classical style Scottish Dry Gin is distilled with a few traditional gin botanicals and some more unusual ingredients (such as cassia bark, Malabar cardamom, pink peppercorns and lemongrass). Starting with robust notes of juniper smoothly moving to a zingy citrus mid body, finishing nicely dry, with a note of spiced vanilla. Jaisalmer Indian Craft GinJaisalmer is the first Indian craft gin and is named after the glorious and breathtaking city. The gin pays homage to the imperial age of Maharajas and Maharanis. The gin is a triple-distilled neutral grain spirit, re-distilled in a traditional copper pot stills at a distillery based in the foothills of the Himalayas. The drink retains the classic gin flavour of juniper berries but with a refreshing twist coming from a wonderful blend of hand-picked Indian botanicals. Conker GinSet up by Rupert Holloway in April 2015, Conker was Dorset’s first gin distillery that has now sold over 200,000 bottles around the UK. Conker embodies the spirit of Dorset, blending British wheat spirit and New Forest Spring Water with botanicals that can be found across the Dorset coast and New Forest. Passionate foragers, distillers and bottlers, the company handcrafts its spirits in small batches to ensure no shortcuts or compromises are taken when it comes to the craft processes, the ingredients and the final quality. O’ndina GinFull of fresh, herbaceous tones, a distinctive, savoury Italian flavour and presented in a unique, eye- catching bottle, O’ndina Gin is a perfect gift for Gin lovers. The notes of fresh Grande Verde de Genova basil, sourced from Liguria and famed for its sweetness and vibrant colour, take you right to the sea. Bright notes of juniper then make way for a bouquet of Italian herbs; marjoram, fennel, sage, citrus, orris and liquorice. 6 O’clock GinStrikingly Smooth 6 O’clock Gin London Dry has a clean flavour led by Juniper. Try it with your favourite premium tonic to create your own moment of “ginspiration”.
